Navigation Paradigms

The Razorfish site http://www.razorfish.com/ has several innovative ideas for navigation on a web site. One, in paticular, is the idea that web sites are moving more toward a system of navigating through information, rather than a collection of web pages. They describe this idea here:   http://www.razorfish.com/table.cgi?company=about.

The tip here, is that in designing a site, it is valuable to think of the experience as circular (or even cyclical), as opposed to a linear series of pages like a book or magazine.

You will notice that most of their navigation happens based on a CGI- based delivery system. This is becoming far more common, as it allows the site manager to more closely monitor navigational traffic patterns.

Here's Anchor's Navigation section which has some good links on navigation tips/techniques: Click here to go.
